I am a student of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), Let's talk about my university. Universita Ahmad Dahlan  (UAD) is a Muhammadiyah university located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Universitas Ahmad Dahlan is located at Jl. Kapas No.9, Semaki, Umbulharjo District, Yogyakarta City, Yogyakarta Special Region. Ahmad Dahlan University is a development of Institut Keguruan dan llmu Pendidikan (IKIP) Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Institut Keguruan dan llmu Pendidikan Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta as a higher education institution is the development of FKIP Muhammadiyah Jakarta Branch in Yogyakarta which was established on November 18, 1960.

FKIP Muhammadiyah is a continuation of the Muhammadiyah BI course in Yogyakarta which was founded in 1957. At that time the BI course had majors in Educating Science, Civic Law and Economics. On December 19, 1994 with the Decree (SK) of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 102/D/0/1994, it was determined that IKIP Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta changed its function to Ahmad Dahlan University.

FKIP Muhammadiyah

The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Muhammadiyah, majoring in Education Science, whose students are partly teachers, has no problem with raw input and continues to develop. After going through guidance and struggle, the challenges faced can be overcome. The government in 1963 with the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education and Knowledge Number: l06/A.63 dated 15 September 1963 gave FKIP Muhammadiyah the status of "recognized" for the Bachelor program. Furthermore, with intensive management, in 1966 this institution received the highest status for private universities, namely the "equalized" status for the Education Science department with the Decree of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education Number: 50 of 1966. With the receipt of the "equalized" status, starting from 1966 FKIP Muhammadiyah opened a Doctoral education program. An application for status was submitted and the examination took place. However, the status did not come, so that Doctoral Education experienced obstacles and congestion. It was only in 1979 that the Doctoral education program was opened and received "registered" status with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture Number: 029/0/1981.

Starting in 1986, the Bachelor of Education and Doctoral Education programs were integrated into an undergraduate education program (S-1) with a recognized status as a 'Curriculum and Educational Technology' study program with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 0361/0/1986 dated May 14, 1986.

History Of CapSu

Beginnings and Transitions

By virtue of Batas Pambansa 91 signed by the Congress on December 24, 1980, the Panay State Polytechnic College (PSPC) came into existence. The law allowed for the merging of Mambusao Agricultural and Technical College (MATEC) based in Mambusao, Capiz with two campuses in the towns of Sapian and Tapaz and Capiz Agricultural and Fisheries School (CAFS) based in Pontevedra, Capiz.

On August 29, 1981, Dr. Ernesto V. Botin took oath as the first PSPC president. Under Botin’s proactive and dynamic leadership, PSPC pursued milestone projects and led the growing community too many well-lauded achievements. In 1982, the PSPC Board of Trustees endorsed for the addition of two satellite campuses of PSPC in the towns of Dumarao and Pilar.

In 1986, President Corazon Aquino reappointed Dr. Botin PSPC president who then served until July 1993. PSPC’s later years under Dr. Botin saw extensive transitions and improvements in the infrastructure and faculty development. Dr. Anthony Navarrosa, then Executive Vice-President, served as the College’s officer-in-charge until the appointment of Dr. Rochellir D. Dadivas on October 12, 1994. Dr. Dadivas served as the second president, pursuing the programs initiated and enhancing the existing projects established in the previous term.

In October 1999, the Capiz Institute of Technology (CIT) based in Roxas City and its fisheries unit in Dayao formed part of the PSPC Roxas City Unit. After less than a year, the Sigma College of Science & Technology (SCST) in the town of Sigma, Capiz was integrated into the PSPC family on December 19, 2000. At the turn of the new millennium, the PSPC Board of Trustees approved the new organizational structure of the College to cover three units, namely: the Roxas City Unit, the Mambusao Unit, and the Pontevedra Unit, each of which to be headed by a chancellor. PSPC Mambusao Unit now covered the campuses of Burias and Poblacion in Mambusao and those in the towns of Sapian, Tapaz, Sigma, and Dumarao; while PSPC Pontevedra Unit covered the campus in Pilar, Capiz.

In 2000, PSPC drafted a proposal to convert the College into a university. On July 28, 2003, deliberations of the bill at commenced in the 12th Congress through the concerted efforts of the concerted efforts of Sen. Manuel Roxas, Cong. Rodriguez Dadivas, Cong. Fredenil Castro, Gov. Vicente Bermejo and Vice-governor Victor Tanco. It was then passed to the Senate on February 7, 2004; and was finally signed and approved by Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on March 21, 2004.

On March 21, 2004, by virtue of Republic Act 9273, the Panay State Polytechnic College (PSPC) was formally converted to Capiz State University. R.A. 9273 provides that the center for administration of the University shall be in the Roxas City campus while the center for academic affairs shall be in Poblacion Mambusao campus. Among others, Capiz State University shall “provide advanced instruction and professional training on agriculture, fishery and forestry, science and technology, arts and humanities, education and other related fields.”

The Act likewise provides that Capiz State University “undertake research, extension services, and production activities, and provide progressive leadership in its areas of specialization.” By this time, chancellorships in PSPC’s three units were dissolved, and an administrator was assigned for each campus.

In July 2008, Dr. Editha L. Magallanes became the third president of the Capiz State University. To date, Capiz State University maintains ten campuses situated across the province of Capiz. Of all the campuses offering academic degree courses, two of them serve as laboratory sites for the farming system (Burias Campus) and fishery research (Pontevedra Campus) activities. Now the President SUC III in Capiz State University is Dr. Editha C. Alfon.
The university's Administrative Center is at the Roxas City Campus while the Academic Affairs Center is at the Mambusao Campus in Poblacion.

Capiz State University has ten sites located in the first and second districts of Capiz. In the First District of Capiz are the Roxas City Main Campus, Dayao Campus, Pontevedra Campus and Pilar Campus while in the Second District are the Poblacion Mambusao Campus, Burias Campus, Sapian Campus, Dumarao Campus, Sigma Campus and Tapaz Campus.

The management of the university is the Board of Regents which consists of the CHED Commissioner as chairman, the University Chancellor as vice chairman, the Chairman of the education, arts and culture committee of the Senate, the Chairman of the Higher and Technical Education Committee, the House of Representatives, the Regional Directors of NEDA. DOST and DA, Chair of the University Student Council Federation, Faculty Federation, Alumni Association and two citizens as members.
